How To Use End Caps In Jewelry Making
End caps are a great way to finish off jewelry pieces and add a touch of class. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and can be used to create a polished look on both the front and back of your work.
End caps are most commonly used in metal jewelry making, but can also be used with other materials such as beads, wire, and polymer clay. In this tutorial, we’ll be using metal end caps and wire.
To start, cut a piece of wire to the desired length. If you’re using a round end cap, the wire should be slightly larger in diameter than the cap. If you’re using a square or rectangular end cap, the wire should be the same size or just a bit smaller.
Bend the wire around a round object to create a round shape. This will be the end of your piece.
Slide the end cap onto the wire, and use pliers to crimp it in place.
If you’re using a square or rectangular end cap, use pliers to bend the wire at a 90 degree angle.
Slide the end cap onto the wire, and use pliers to crimp it in place.
That’s it! Your jewelry piece is now finished.
